In the years 2007-2011, Senator Bogdan Klich was the Minister of Defence in Poland. While at this post, Senator Klich ended the military draft and took significant measures towards the modernization of the Polish military. From 2004-2007, he was a member of the European Parliament and an active advocate for the human rights activists in Belarus. While a member of the Polish Parliament (2001-2004), Senator Klich served as the vice-chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs as well as the Committee on National Security. Senator Klich held the post of Deputy Minister of National Security between 1999- 2000 and was responsible for Polish cooperation with NATO as well as the deepened military cooperation with Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovakia and the Ukraine. Since 2011, Senator Klich has been the Minority Leader of the Polish senate.
He founded the prestigious Institute for Strategic Studies in Kraków, which specializes in national security issues and international relations.
