Starting on January 1, Belgium will assume the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union. This isn't unfamiliar territory for Belgium, as one of the six founding nations of the European project, they have previously undertaken this responsibility several times, most recently in 2010. However, the first half of 2024 presents a unique set of challenges for the European project, and Belgium's past experience with the rotating presidency doesn't ensure a smooth ride.

 

In light of the distinct challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the incoming Belgian Presidency, TEPSA The Trans European Policy Studies Association is partnering with the Egmont Institute to co-host the Belgian Pre-Presidency Conference (PPC): "Towards the Next Strategic Agenda".

 

At this crucial moment for the EU, the Belgian Pre-Presidency Conference will bring together leading academics, policymakers, researchers, and civil society representatives to reflect on the next EU Strategic Agenda for 2024-2029.
