We invite you to join us for a seminar entitled "New Narratives for a Damaged Planet: Humanities and Social Sciences Perspectives on the Climate Crisis".

Where? Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Collegium Novum, Gołębia 24, room 30 (1st floor)

 

Organized by the Coimbra Group’s Social Sciences and Humanities Working Group in collaboration with Jagiellonian University, this seminar examines the crucial issue of global warming and climate change. These topics, central to contemporary debates, unite international institutions, governments, and activists.

 

While climate change emerged as a political concern in the 1970s, its impact on civilization has been studied for centuries. Today, the environmental transformations resulting from human activity are causing unprecedented changes in both scope and pace. Climate change studies have permeated all major scientific disciplines and have become a widely discussed public issue, particularly with the rise of ecological grief as a psychological consequence of these changes.

 

In this seminar, we aim to explore the climate crisis through the lens of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Each panel will be preceded by a brief keynote lecture.
